Cadillac CTS Comparison

2015 CADILLAC CTS vs. BMW 528i, BMW 535i

2015 CADILLAC CTS 2.0T LUXURY vs 2015 BMW 528i WITH PREMIUM PACKAGE

CTS advantages include:
Higher level of comfort - The CTS Luxury Collection includes heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and Adaptive Remote Start. On the 528i, heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel are costly options, and no Remote Start is offered.

Standard Rear Park Assist - 528i does not include this CTS Luxury Collection standard, only offering Park Distance Control as part of an $1800 Package.

No-cost metallic exterior color options - Cadillac offers five metallic paint options at no extra charge, while BMW charges $550 for any metallic paint.

OnStar with 4G LTE - CTS customers enjoy a wireless hotspot that can connect up to seven devices. BMW offers nothing comparable.

Wireless charging - CTS includes standard wireless charging; BMW does not.

More advanced infotainment - CTS's 8" CUE touch-screen is larger and more functional than BMW's iDrive 6.5" non-touch screen, which is operated by a touchpad controller mounted on the center console. While iDrive has been improved with handwriting recognition on the controller and some enhanced Bluetooth capabilities, it still lacks the many sophisticated features of CUE, including gesture recognition, haptic feedback and proximity-sensing reveal-on-approach.

More USB ports - CUE comes with three standard USB ports, an SD card reader and auxiliary port. iDrive includes just one USB and an auxiliary jack.

OnStar with 4G LTE - CTS customers enjoy a wireless hotspot that can connect up to seven devices and includes a 3-month/3 GB data trial. BMW offers nothing comparable.

More powerful engine - While both CTS and 528i are equipped with 2.0L inline 4-cylinder engines, CTS's powerplant seriously outguns the 528i's. The CTS turbo I4 generates 272 hp and a peak torque rating of 295 compared to the 528i turbo I4 ratings of 240 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

Lighter vehicle - The CTS turbo I4 weighs in at 3649 lbs., almost 170 lbs. lighter than the 528i, adding to its world-class handling and dynamics.

Brembo performance front brakes - Every CTS Sedan is equipped with Brembo performance front brakes for reduced brake wear and superior braking performance. BMW does not include Brembo brakes on 528i.

Duralife brake rotors - Enhance the look, reduce corrosion and can virtually double rotor service life on every CTS Sedan. BMW offers nothing to compare.

More comprehensive air bag protection - With 10 standard air bags, including front knee and rear outboard thorax air bags, CTS provides occupants with more protection. BMW 528i provides just 6 air bags.

Advanced active safety - CTS Luxury Collection includes outstanding active safety technologies: Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and the Safety Alert Seat. The Safety Alert Seat and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are not offered on BMW 528i, and all other features are options.

Standard Rear Vision Camera - Included on CTS Luxury Collection, this is yet another option on the 528i.

More peace of mind - Cadillac provides longer powertrain warranty and roadside assistance, along with standard courtesy transportation. BMW owners depend on individual dealer policies for courtesy transportation.
