Cadillac XTS Comparison

2015 CADILLAC XTS vs. AUDI A6, LEXUS GS 350

2015 CADILLAC XTS LUXURY AWD vs 2015 AUDI A6 AWD 3.0T PREMIUM PLUS

XTS advantages include:
More luxurious comfort - XTS includes standard heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, 4-way power lumbar on the front passenger seat and a power tilt/telescoping steering column. A6 Premium Plus doesn't offer ventilated seats, passenger seat power lumbar or a power steering column. Heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel are part of a $500 package.

More convenience - Adaptive Remote Vehicle Start is included on the XTS Luxury and is not offered on the Audi. Plus XTS's memory includes steering column position; Audi's does not.

More space - Driver and passengers alike will enjoy more space in the XTS, which has 7 cu. ft. more passenger volume and almost 4 cu. ft. more trunk space than A6.

More comfort - XTS delivers almost 2" more front headroom and nearly 1" more leg room. Rear-seat passengers enjoy over 2 1/2" more leg room in the XTS than in the Audi.

Advanced infotainment - The Cadillac User Experience (CUE) system includes an easy-to-use touch-screen with features that the Audi MMI system doesn't include. Even though Audi's MMI system has a touch pad with handwriting recognition, both the touch pad and system controls are on the center console-separate, unappealing and cumbersome. The smaller Audi screen lacks any touch functionality, including proximity sensing. Plus their voice recognition system uses more structured commands and doesn't allow voice command of connected devices; CUE does.

Dramatically more extensive telematics service - Audi connect is basically a hotspot connection through either AT&T or T Mobile and lacks OnStar's breadth of services (Automatic Crash Response, Remote Services,
Stolen Vehicle Assistance) and live Advisors. Plus it is only standard for 6 months vs. 1 year for OnStar.

Better Wi-Fi hotspot - XTS's standard mobile Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar 4G LTE connectivity offer a faster, more reliable connection than Audi Connect's 3G system.

More responsive suspension system - The XTS is equipped with Magnetic Ride Control, which responds to road inputs in mere milliseconds. Audi A6 doesn't offer any kind of real-time suspension damping system, just a sport suspension package with a more tightly tuned suspension and larger wheels.

Brembo performance front brakes - XTS standard front brakes are a fixed-caliper 4-piston design that provides superior pedal feel, more consistent response and outstanding 60-0 braking performance while reducing brake wear. A6 does not offer Brembo brakes.

Duralife brake rotors - XTS's brake rotors are corrosion-resistant and can last up to twice as long as non-treated rotors. No Duralife is included on A6.

More economical regular fuel - While the A6 is rated at slightly higher fuel economy ratings, more expensive premium fuel is recommended to achieve those ratings. XTS drivers save at the pump with regular fuel.

More comprehensive air bag protection - With 10 standard air bags, including front knee and rear outboard thorax air bags, XTS provides occupants with more protection. Outboard rear thorax air bags are optional on the A6.

Available Safety Alert Seat - XTS includes the Safety Alert Seat in the available Driver Awareness Package. Audi uses steering wheel vibrations that don't offer the same range of feedback as the Safety Alert Seat.

More peace of mind - Cadillac provides roadside assistance for 2 years longer than Audi.

Longer scheduled maintenance - Cadillac Premium Care extends for 4 years or 50,000 miles. Audi A6 owners receive only one complimentary maintenance visit in the first year or 5000 miles.

2015 CADILLAC XTS LUXURY AWD vs 2015 LEXUS GS 350 AWD

XTS advantages include:
More luxury - The XTS Luxury Collection includes standard heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and Adaptive Remote Start. These features are costly options on the Lexus. Heated/ventilated seats are only available in a $5,200 package, a heated steering wheel in a $5,695 package and Adaptive Remote Start as part of a $6,800 package.

More comfort - XTS includes standard 12-way power front seats versus GS 350's 10-way. If a GS 350 customer wants memory seating for the passenger seat, which is standard on XTS, it will cost over $10,000. Again, it's only available in an expensive package. Plus XTS provides 1" more front head room, over 3" more rear leg room and more overall shoulder room.

Larger trunk - XTS provides 3.7 cu. ft. more trunk space.

UltraView Sunroof - Even though Lexus includes a standard sunroof on GS 350, it is standard-sized and opens only the front of the cabin. XTS's available UltraView Sunroof spans both rows of seats.

OnStar with 4G LTE - XTS customers enjoy a wireless hotspot that can connect up to seven devices. Lexus doesn't offer anything comparable.

More advanced infotainment - XTS's Cadillac User Experience (CUE) touch-screen is more functional and more intuitive to use. GS 350's non-touch screen is operated by a remote touch device mounted on the center console. The Lexus Enform lacks CUE's gesture recognition, haptic feedback and proximity-sensing reveal-on-approach.

Standard navigation - CUE includes a standard system with 3D display. Navigation is available on the Lexus only as part of a $2,852 package.

More extensive standard telematics - OnStar includes a full range of concierge and Advisor services, while the standard Lexus Enform service includes safety services only.

More media ports - XTS includes two standard USB ports, an SD card reader and auxiliary port. The Lexus? Just one USB and an auxiliary jack.

More responsive suspension system - The XTS includes standard Magnetic Ride Control, the fastest reacting continuous real-time damping system on the market.

Brembo performance front brakes - XTS standard front brakes are a fixed-caliper 4-piston design that provides superior pedal feel, more consistent response and outstanding 60-0 braking performance while reducing brake wear. GS 350 does not offer Brembo brakes.

Duralife brake rotors - Enhance the look, reduce corrosion and can virtually double rotor service life on every XTS. Lexus offers nothing to compare.

More economical regular fuel - While the GS 350 is rated at slightly higher fuel economy ratings, more expensive premium fuel is recommended. XTS drivers save at the pump with regular fuel.

Standard 19" wheels - While XTS has standard 19" wheels, the GS 350 has standard 18". 19" wheels are only available on the GS in packages with price tags ranging from $5,695 to $9,901.

Available Safety Alert Seat - XTS includes the Safety Alert Seat in the available Driver Awareness Package, which provides directional information. There is nothing similar to the Safety Seat available on any Lexus trim level.

More peace of mind - Cadillac provides roadside assistance for two years longer than Lexus.

Longer scheduled maintenance - Cadillac Premium Care extends for 4 years or 50,000 miles. Lexus GS 350 owners receive only 1 year or 10,000 miles of complimentary maintenance, limited to just two services: one at 5,000 and the next at 10,000 miles.
