2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLT CREW CAB SHORT BOX 4WD vs 2015 RAM LARAMIE 1500 CREW CAB SHORT BOX 4WD WITH 5.7L V8

Sierra advantages include:
Front passenger seat comfort - Sierra SLT features 10-way power for both the driver and front passenger seats. Ram Laramie also has 10-way power driver seat, but its front passenger seat is limited to 6-way power.

Enhanced convenience standard - Sierra SLT includes a standard Remote Vehicle Starter System. This feature is an extra-cost feature on Ram Laramie.

Cargo box conveniences - Sierra's exclusive innovative CornerStep rear bumper, LED cargo box lighting and segment-first upper tie-downs are unmatched by Ram.

Superior seat-positioning comfort - Sierra SLT includes a tilt and telescoping steering column that helps drivers fine-tune their driving position for comfort. Ram Laramie also includes a tilt steering wheel, but it lacks a telescoping feature.

Faster 4G LTE hotspot - GMC Sierra SLT includes a built-in, in-vehicle OnStar 4G LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot with a 3-month/3 GB trial period (whichever comes first). Ram 1500 also features a Wi-Fi hotspot, but it is a slower 3G type.

Siri Eyes Free voice command feature - Siri Eyes Free for select iPhone users is included with MyLink (requires compatible iPhone running iOS 6). Siri is not available with Ram 1500.

OnStar Limited Feature Set of RemoteLink - The OnStar Limited Feature Set of RemoteLink is included for 5 years. This feature provides owners with the ability to remotely start, remotely lock and unlock doors and remotely activate the horn and lights directly from their smartphone. Ram offers a similar feature called UCONNECT® ACCESS VIA MOBILE SMARTPHONE that includes the above mentioned features. However this feature is an optional feature on Laramie and after a brief 6 month trial period, must be purchased at additional cost.

Better V8 fuel economy - Comparing standard V8 engines, Sierra 4WD beats Ram 4WD.

More maximum horsepower and torque - Sierra's available 6.2L V8 with 420 HP puts out 25 more horsepower and 50 more lb.-ft. of torque than Ram 1500 Laramie's most powerful Hemi gas engine.

More capable - Sierra SLT Crew Cab 4WD can haul more and tow more than Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4WD. Sierra has a 524 lb. greater maximum payload and a 1000 lb. greater maximum towing capacity when base models compared. Sierra's payload and towing advantage grows even larger when it's ordered with the available 6.2L V8 engine.

Better traction - Sierra SLT features a standard automatic locking rear differential. Ram Laramie does not offer a locking rear differential. It only offers a limited-slip differential as an option.

Longer lasting brake rotors - Sierra pickups include Duralife brake rotors that are engineered to better resist corrosion and last longer than typical brake rotors.

Segment-first safety technologies - Sierra SLT offers Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and a Safety Alert Seat-capabilities that may have seemed inconceivable on a pickup just a few short years ago. Ram 1500 offers nothing to compare with these important safety features.

More security - Ram 1500 does not offer comparable features like OnStar's Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, which helps police recover a stolen vehicle by gradually slowing it down, or Ignition Block that remotely prevents a vehicle from starting once it has been turned off.

Safety after a crash - OnStar's GPS connection provides immediate assistance after a collision with Automatic Crash Notification. UConnect's Access Assist only allows you to reach 911. No emergency help is automatically dispatched if you are unable to press the button.

Enhanced convenience standard - Sierra SLT includes a standard Remote Vehicle Starter System. To get this feature on F-150 Lariat, you must purchase Equipment Group 501A, which costs an additional $1500.

Superior cargo box access - Sierra SLT has a standard innovative CornerStep rear bumper for easy access to the cargo box. Ford F-150 Laramie does not have a standard rear cargo box step. To receive F-150's available tailgate step, you must purchase it as an extra-cost option for $375.

More front-seat head room - For enhanced comfort, Sierra has a full 2" more front-seat head room than F-150.

Lift-assist tailgate - Sierra includes a standard EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate. On F-150, tailgate lift assist is only offered as an optional feature.

Built-in OnStar with 4G LTE hotspot - GMC Sierra SLT includes a built-in, in-vehicle 4G LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot with a 3-month/3 GB trial period (whichever comes first). This feature is not available with Ford F-150.

Siri Eyes Free voice command feature - Siri Eyes Free for select iPhone users is included with MyLink (requires compatible iPhone running iOS 6). Siri is not available with Ford F-150.

More maximum horsepower and torque - Sierra's available 6.2L V8 with 420 HP puts out 55 more horsepower and 40 more lb.-ft. of torque than Ford F-150's top-of-the-line EcoBoost 3.5L V6 engine.

Better V8 fuel economy - Comparing V8 engines, Sierra 4WD beats Ford F-150.

More advanced transmission - Sierra's available 6.2L V8 is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. All of F-150's engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The more gears in a transmission, the better it is able to keep the engine in its optimal operating range.

Better standard traction - Sierra SLT features a standard automatic locking rear differential. A locking rear differential with Ford F-150 Laramie is a $470 option for one with a 3:55 ratio or a $570 option for a locking rear differential with a 3:73 ratio.

Longer-lasting brake rotors - Sierra pickups include Duralife brake rotors that are engineered to better resist corrosion and last longer than typical brake rotors.

Superior peace of mind - Sierra's powertrain warranty lasts for 40,000 miles longer than F-150's powertrain warranty. In addition, Sierra includes complimentary scheduled maintenance and standard courtesy transportation, features not included with F-150's warranty.

Automatic Crash Response - Sierra's OnStar system has embedded cellular technology that automatically calls for emergency services if a collision is detected. F-150 has an available telematics system, but it requires a properly paired and powered-up cell phone to function. If the phone is not in the car, not powered up or damaged in the collision, F-150's 911 Assist will not make the emergency call.

More security - Ford F-150 does not offer comparable features like OnStar's Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, which helps police recover a stolen vehicle by gradually slowing it down, or Ignition Block that remotely prevents a vehicle from starting once it has been turned off.

Segment-first safety technology - A Safety Alert Seat that directs vibration warnings to the seat cushion bolsters is available on Sierra SLT. A Safety Alert Seat is not available on F-150.
